This year, I completely overhauled my skin care routine for acne-prone, dry, and sensitive skin. I re-built my regimen one product at a time until I could finally see progress toward clearer skin… but something was still missing. After hearing about PDRN serum everywhere on social media, I wondered if it could provide the final puzzle piece for my skin concerns.
I committed to using the haruharu wonder Rose PDRN Soothing Serum every night for a month to see if it was viral for a reason, or just a fad. Not only did I end up experiencing more balanced, hydrated skin, but PDRN has completely transformed my face’s texture and glow.
Keep reading to learn more about PDRN and my results after 30 days of consistent use.
What is PDRN?
PDRN skin care is having a moment in online skin care communities, but you’ve most likely heard about its connection to… sperm. Salmon sperm, specifically, is the common source for PDRN, which is a DNA compound. Initially, this sounded bonkers and frankly, offputting. Luckily, a vegan alternative just broke onto the scene: the haruharu wonder Rose PDRN Soothing Serum uses PDRN extracted from the cells of the Damascus rose.
PDRN supports skin renewal and rejuvenation by activating reparative receptors in the skin, stimulating collagen and calming inflammation. It’s shown to improve texture and tone while also helping reduce the appearance of fine lines. The haruharu wonder serum is gentle enough for sensitive skin and actually helps soothe irritation.
My skin has been flaky, dry and reactive over the past winter season, and this serum helped calm the look and feel of those struggles tremendously. It’s specifically been clinically tested safe for all skin types, proven to improve moisture by 88%+, skin texture by 11%+, and reduce redness by 21%+.
This K-beauty serum combines rose PDRN with azelaic acid to boost the soothing and smoothing effects. Azelaic acid is also excellent at reducing redness and improving skin texture as well as hyperpigmentation. The Sodium PCA, Panthenol and Squalane in the formula offer deep hydration and soften the skin for a long lasting nourished feel.
Long story short, this PDRN serum is a multi-benefit skin care step that will complement most routines and work for all skin types.
How I Use PDRN Skin Care in My Routine
Let me start by sharing some context on my skin care routine. My focus is targeting my acne, scars and hyperpigmentation first and foremost, then addressing the fine lines I am starting to see develop in my mid-thirties as a secondary goal. (Preventative care is always best!) Plus, hydration is always a need as someone with combo-leaning-dry skin living in a desert climate.
With the PDRN serum, here’s what my skin care routine looks like:
- haruharu wonder Triple AHA Gentle Cleansing Gel
- haruharu wonder Probiotics Barrier Essence
- Dermatologist-prescribed Tretinoin topical (2x a week)
- haruharu wonder Rose PDRN Soothing Serum
- haruharu wonder Black Rice 5 Ceramide Barrier Moisturizing Cream
Benefits of Using PDRN Serum for 30 Days
As with any skin care product you’re working into your routine for the first time, it can take two to three weeks to really see results, due to the average skin regeneration cycle. I did notice the extra hydration the serum was providing right away though, and felt overall more balance in my combo skin. After just a few uses, I saw less flaky patches and irritation.
Once I had been using the serum for nearly two weeks, I noticed an obvious texture transformation. This serum seemed to be the perfect companion to my bi-monthly microneedling, as I started to see some of my pitted acne scars smooth out more quickly,
Over the month I was using this serum in both my morning and nighttime routines, I also experienced less breakouts. I had been struggling with recurring stubborn cystic acne, which has greatly reduced since using this serum daily. On my forehead, I also notice the small closed comedones clearing up. I think the azelaic acid is helping with the cell turnover and inflammation, resulting in clearer skin.
Aside from acne itself, hyperpigmentation has been one of my biggest skin insecurities. When my deeper spots finally clears up, I’m usually left with discoloration that still makes my skin appear blemished. There are a few areas on my face that have been hit the hardest, including my chin. After 3+ weeks of using this serum within my existing regimen, I noticed more speedy lightening of spots from old, long-healed acne. Until now, I had seen progress, but adding this in seemed to hit fast forward.
As much as I have amazing things to say about my skin's progress since adding this serum into my routine, it’s important to note that this alone isn’t a miracle product. I was already seeing progress prior to using PDRN, but this offered a boost where I still felt like there was room to improve.
The haruharu wonder Rose PDRN Soothing Serum felt like a missing link. My skin care routine was yielding results for my sensitive acne-prone skin, but this serum just supercharged it. I feel like I’m finally in a place where I see clearer and clearer skin as weeks go on, and while this may not be a do-it-all serum, it works well to support my goals. This is the best PDRN serum if you’re looking for an alternative to salmon PDRN while still experiencing all the benefits.
