A Week of Skincare, Based on My Mood

A Week of Skincare, Based on My Mood

I’m sure you’ve felt this too — there are days when even the idea of a full skincare routine feels exhausting, especially after a long day or a busy week. During busy weekdays, I often just want to do the bare minimum and crawl back into bed, while on other days I’m fully in the mood to pamper myself and enjoy every single step.

Over time, I realized that my skincare routine changes depending on how I feel, what my skin needs, and honestly… how much energy I have that day. Instead of forcing myself to always do the “perfect” routine, I started asking myself one simple question:

“What do I feel like my skin (and I) need today?”

And surprisingly, listening to my mood while still giving my skin the essentials actually worked better than trying to follow an unrealistic routine every single day.

Busy Morning Essentials

At the start of the week, especially after a packed weekend, mornings tend to feel a little chaotic and rushed. Sometimes I’m still half asleep while getting ready for work, and on other days I simply don’t have the time for a long skincare routine.

On those mornings, I focus on the essentials I truly can’t leave the house without.

I always start with a gentle cleanse using our Moisture 5.5 Soft Cleansing Gel. It refreshes my skin without stripping it, which is exactly what I need first thing in the morning.

After cleansing,I like to pat on our Black Rice Hyaluronic Toner for a fresh layer of hydration that instantly makes my skin look more awake.

For moisturizer, I like to switch things up depending on the season:

No matter how rushed I am, sunscreen is the one step I never skip. Our Moisture Airyfit Daily Sunscreen feels lightweight and comfortable enough to wear every single day, which makes busy mornings so much easier. On really rushed mornings, everything feels a bit on autopilot — I’m half-dressed, coffee in one hand, skincare in the other, trying to get out the door on time. That’s usually when I appreciate a simple routine the most. It doesn’t feel like I’m skipping steps, but rather choosing the ones that actually make a difference. My skin still feels fresh, hydrated, and protected, but I don’t have to spend extra time overthinking it.

Between office air conditioning, changing weather, and staring at a screen all day, my skin can start feeling dry and tired by the afternoon. That’s when I love using our NAD+ Mist throughout the day for a quick refresh and healthy glow boost. I usually keep it at my desk or in my bag, especially on days when the air in the office feels dry or heavy. Sometimes I just take a quick break, close my eyes for a second, and mist my face — it feels like a reset button in the middle of the day. It’s small, but it genuinely helps my skin feel less tight and more awake, especially during long screen-heavy afternoons.

Weekday Evening Reset

After getting home late, there are definitely evenings when all I want to do is collapse into bed immediately. On those days, I try not to overcomplicate things. But I also know my skin would absolutely seek revenge the next morning if I skipped my routine completely. On those days, I try not to overcomplicate things. I remind myself that even a minimal routine is better than nothing, especially when my skin has been exposed to makeup, sunscreen, pollution, and just general city life all day. There’s something almost comforting about going through the same cleansing steps every night, even when I’m tired — like a small reset before the next day starts.

So on especially tiring evenings, I try to at least stick to a simple but effective routine.

Since I usually wear makeup and sunscreen throughout the day, double cleansing is one step I never compromise on. My go-to routine always starts with our Moisture Cleansing Oil to melt away makeup, sunscreen, and daily buildup. I gently emulsify it before following up with my trusted Cleansing Gel for a second cleanse.

After cleansing, I use my toner again to prep my skin for the next steps.

At night, I like giving my skin a little extra care, so I alternate between:

To finish everything off, I apply our Barrier Cream for long-lasting overnight moisture and comfort.

One of my favorite little skincare habits is keeping a face mist on my nightstand. Whenever my skin feels dry before bed — or even during the night — a quick spritz makes such a difference.

Weekend “Everything Shower” Skincare

Weekends are when I finally get to slow down and turn my skincare routine into a proper self-care moment.

You know the feeling after an “everything shower”? That’s exactly when I love doing my full “everything skincare routine” too.

After showering, I like to nourish my body first with our Daily Smoothing Body Oil. It glides onto the skin so smoothly and helps lock in moisture beautifully.

Then I move on to my skincare routine — and yes, I firmly believe skincare is better after the shower, not during it.

I start with my usual double cleanse before layering on:

  • toner
  • milky essence
  • soothing serum
  • and moisture cream

This combination leaves my skin feeling deeply hydrated, calm, and incredibly comfortable.

And of course, I can’t forget my lips. I always finish with our Peptide Glowy Balm to keep them soft and hydrated, especially when they’re feeling dry or chapped.

Listening to What My Skin Needs

I think we all experience those days when we feel too tired, busy, or honestly just too lazy to do a long skincare routine.

But at the same time, I also know my skin won’t forgive me later if I completely neglect it — and I’ll probably end up dealing with dryness, irritation, or breakouts afterward.

That’s why, even on low-energy days, I always try to at least stick to the basics and give my skin the essentials it needs.

On better days, though, skincare becomes less of a routine and more of a small ritual — a moment where I can slow down, reset, and take care of myself for a little while. Sometimes slowing down and pampering yourself is exactly what both you and your skin need.
